Swiss-Swedish technology company ABB said Wednesday it will invest $280 million to build its European Robotics Campus in Vasteras, Sweden, just over 100 kilometers northwest of Stockholm
The 65,000 m2 campus will be the workplace for the 1,300 ABB Robotics employees in the area and will include a new factory, offices and a research and development center.
With this new factory, ABB expands production capacity by 50% and strengthens its capabilities to supply the European market, which is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7% until 2027.
Once the campus is complete, ABB will have invested $450 million in its three robotics plants since 2018, including Shanghai and Auburn Hills.
Construction on the site will begin in 2024. Replacing the existing robotics facilities on the site, the new campus is expected to open in late 2026.
